Who we are
Utilities Made Simple Ltd ("we", "us") is an independent energy consultancy registered in England & Wales, company number 10105949. What we collect
When you request a quote or contact us we collect the details you provide: name, business name, email, phone number, postcode, meter references (MPAN, MPRN or SPID), consumption data, and copies of bills or renewal letters you send us. If you sign a letter of authority (LOA), we may also obtain your supply and consumption data directly from suppliers and industry data services in order to quote you accurately.
Why we use it
We use your data to prepare and discuss quotations, to arrange contracts you ask us to arrange, to manage your account and renewals, and to meet our legal obligations. The lawful bases we rely on are: taking steps at your request before entering a contract; performance of that contract; and our legitimate interests in running and improving our business, including contacting you ahead of your renewal window unless you ask us not to.
Who we share it with
To obtain quotes and arrange contracts we share relevant details with energy and water suppliers and, where applicable, with industry bodies that hold supply data. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep records of contracts and the data supporting them for the duration of our relationship and for up to six years afterwards, in line with contractual and tax record-keeping obligations. Quote enquiries that don't proceed are kept for up to two years so we can help when your renewal comes around, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email info@utilitiesms.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
